Baby Time!

This conversation needs a little backstory. For as long as I can remember, my mom’s been asking when I’m going to get married. It is certainly a valid question since Jacob and I have been together for over 7 years, but I don’t have any way of making her understand that it’s just not that important to us right now. We still have very young lifestyles and although we are “practically married” as most observe, neither of us are really feeling the pressures yet.

As many times as I’ve tried to explain this to my mom, she continued to ask me every single day why I wasn’t married yet. My breaking point came one night while we were on the phone and she advised me to wise up because if Jacob didn’t ask me to get married soon, then before long, I’ll be too old for another guy to want to marry me. I yelled at her and told her we could never talk about marriage again. Ever.

So the next day, this message pops up on my screen.

Let it be known that my mom is completely obsessed with babies. She’s the creepy lady in grocery stores that is a bit too affectionate with other people’s babies. Sometimes I’ll get defensive when I see strangers react uncomfortably or annoyingly at my mom’s interaction with their little devil spawns but then I remember all those Lifetime movies about abducted babies and pregnant women. But my mom is nothing but good intentions. She just comes on a bit strong. Just a bit. The proof is below.

She likes the wheelchair idea. She says if you have a baby, she’ll get a wheelchair.
